The Child and Family Team at Monash Health Community (MHC) provide allied health services to children. This also includes family support, counselling and psychology. The team provide support to vulnerable, socially isolated and at risk children and their families.

About us

The Child and Family Team at Monash Health Community (MHC) provide allied health services to children. This also includes family support, counselling and psychology. The team provide support to vulnerable, socially isolated and at risk children and their families.

We also have as part of our program the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Program (HMHB) which supports vulnerable at risk women through their pregnancy until three months post birth.

Child and Family Services offers:

  • Supportive and flexible services.
  • a philosophy which promotes positive parenting and child interaction
  • services to enhance parent’s understanding of their child’s development.
  • comprehensive multi-disciplinary screening assessments
  • Child and family centred practice

Eligibility 

Inclusion:

  • Lives / works / studies or child attends pre-school or child-care in the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey, Shire of Cardinia
  • OR Cannot access local services due to poor transport accessibility
  • OR service is not provided by local community health service.

Exclusion:

  • Clients on waitlist, attending OR previously attended Early Childhood Intervention Programs or Specialist Schools cannot be seen as they should be eligible to receive therapy support at these settings.
  • Clients with a developmental diagnosis i.e. Cerebral Palsy, Asperger’s, Autism, global developmental delay

Disability Paediatric Services eligibility: 

  • If the child has no other disability service available to them (Podiatry, dietetics and Exercise physiology) they may be able to access Disability Paediatric Services)
  • The service will do some home modification assessments when other service are not available
  • The service is goal focused and short term
  • Speech Pathology clients cannot access this service
